Shaping Responsible AI Coding for Accessibility
AI code generators are trained on inaccessible patterns. We've all seen the false promises. But with AI assistants becoming standard practice, we need to face facts: this is how code gets written now. So we must teach them to write it accessibly. This talk cuts through the hype to share practical experiences with AI in automated testing, examines where AI genuinely helps versus where it falls short, and presents concrete ways the accessibility community can advocate for and build more responsible AI tools.

Jeremy Rivera is a Developer Advocate at Deque Systems, a leader in Digital Accessibility. Jeremy got started learning about accessibility a few years ago when he started working as a MERN developer. He knows American Sign Language and is a general technologist.

Allie Sieben a human-centered designer with a passion for creating meaningful, inclusive experiences across both physical and digital products. With work spanning tech, medical devices, and healthcare, She is passionate about tackling meaningful and complex design challenges. More recently, Allie has been delving into cognitive accessibility — exploring how design can better reflect the diverse ways our minds think, feel, and function.
