Content authoring tools are what allow “authors” to produce digital and print content. Given accessible authoring tools, more people are able to tell their own stories and be creators, rather than just spectators or consumers. In addition to making content creation more accessible and inclusive, these technologies have the power to build communities around art, identity, and learning.

Join us for a casual night of (non-alcoholic) drinks, snacks, and drawing! Featuring a demonstration and discussion from Amara S., we’ll hear about the tips, tricks, trials, and tribulations of self-publishing graphic novels. Follow along with a pen and paper (or preferred drawing materials), as Amara leads us through some of her design processes. Afterward, attendees will be asked to complete a survey about their experience.

This event is sponsored by the Taskar Center for Accessible Technology (TCAT). TCAT focuses on the design, development, and deployment of open-source technologies that improve access for people with disabilities.

Arrival at Blink:
There is street parking on Western and along Alaskan Way. It is free after 6.
Walking in from a bus, use either Spring or Madison for the quickest way. But they are also steep streets.
There are two sets of doors at the front of the building to the lobby. We will have a greeter to direct to the elevators.
Four elevators, two on each side.
Blink is the sixth floor.
The lobby is locked after 6 and a secure place to wait for a pickup.
