Let's chat 3D. How do you model? How do you print?

Our first meeting was a smashing success. It was great to meet all of you and share our aspirations and excitement for 3D printing.

This time let's talk modeling and printing. What's the process? How do you actually get something printed?

Gary, who was at our first meeting, and I sat down with a window clip and Sketchup a couple of weeks back. In 20 min or so we had a .stl ready to print. Let's all walk through the process of creating and then printing Gary's clip for his Pella patio door. Then we'll print it on a Makerbot Thing-O-Matic.
