Using Linux & Raspberry Pi for data collection, display and dissemination

Marvin Forde @marvin_forde is a Technical Officer at the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH) in Barbados and a Raspberry Pi enthusiast.

For the past four years Marvin has been using Raspberry Pi to collect, display and disseminate weather station data at CIMH.

After a system migration from Windows XP to Windows 7 revealed a critical software application to be incompatible with the new Windows OS, Marvin found himself having to write local scripts in Python to format data to send back to the office. Convinced that there must be a better way, join us to learn how Marvin replaced a $500 (USD) computer system with a Raspberry Pi solution.
