Winston Churchill said, "We shape our buildings and thereafter they shape us." The culture at the time of the design critically affects not only the style of the building, but its use and how it appeals to the public. We will have three speakers commenting on three different times in the history of the Caribbean basin and how the cultures of the time affected the buildings that were built. Afterwards, we will discuss the papers in an open forum and compare these historic periods to how our architecture is affected today.
