If you guys have never attended the Moth story slam in Detroit, you really need to check out the Moth's newest version of it, right here in Ann Arbor! It's like an open mic comedy night where people just tell stories centered around a particular theme. Unlike amateur comedy nights, almost all of them are extremely entertaining. You can of course sign up to tell your own story, if you have the chutzpah to pull it off.
The theme for September’s stories is "Rules".
Note that this is an extremely popular event. Doors open at 5:30, they recommend getting there early if you want a good seat. You can get there later, but you might be standing the whole time. I will be there around 5:45 and will save a section of seats to the right if you are facing the stage. I will only hold seats until the rest of the section fills up and then I will release them to the public so the closer to 5:45 you can be there the better because I can't promise you a seat!
The cover is only $5 to get in (cash only, please bring small bills)
If you'd like to see some examples of stories told at these events, check out these links:

Look for me when you get there or text me at[masked]!

I would recommend everyone buy the book, it is $9.59 on Amazon and you get two tickets worth $10 each (see below)!

SPECIAL OFFER ONLY GOOD UNTIL SEPT 3rd!

The Moth: 50 True Stories (Hyperion)
Preface by Adam Gopnik, foreward by George Dawes Green, edited and with an introduction by Catherine Burns

For the first time in print, The Moth presents fifty spellbinding, soul-bearing stories selected from our archive. The same magic you've witnessed on the stage, now available in our very first book. (The next best thing to having fifty cool people over for dinner!)

Stories include tales from Moth hometown favorites like Steve the Cop, Ophira Eisenberg and Edgar Oliver, as well as never-heard-before gems (unless of course you were at that Moth show in Tajikistan?). Re-live your favorite stories in print or discover new voices!
