If you guys have never attended the Moth story slam in Detroit, you really need to check out the Moth's newest version of it, right here in Ann Arbor! It's like an open mic comedy night where people just tell stories centered around a particular theme. Unlike amateur comedy nights, almost all of them are extremely entertaining. You can of course sign up to tell your own story, if you have the chutzpah to pull it off.
The theme for July's story slam is "Altered"
Note that this is an extremely popular event. Doors open at 6, they recommend getting there early if you want a good seat. You can get there later, but you might be standing the whole time. I will be there around 5:45 (the doors open at six) and will save a section of seats to the right if you are facing the stage. I will only hold seats until the rest of the section fills up and then I will release them to the public so the closer to 6:00 you can be there the better because I can't promise you a seat!
The cover has increased to $8 to get in (cash only, please bring small bills). You can buy pre-sale tickets that will guarantee you admittance but not a seat for $16 in advance on themoth.org website under events. These advanced tickets go on sale a week before the event.
