Strathcona Off Leash Park

Strathcona Off Leash Park

Details

What a nice day and a nice time we had yesterday at Capilano Off Leash park. It was a little more strenuous than I had anticipated as I hadn't been that way before, but it was good exercise and the dogs loved it. I think the smallest dog there was Pebbles (the miniature yorkie) and the largest dog was probably Bolt (the Greyhound). Patti and her dog Sasha (first timers) won the prize. Good for you Patti.
See the pictures I posted.

Our next walk will be at Strathcona County Regional Off-leash Site which is located just east of Edmonton. I've only been to this park once before and it was a lovely park with lots of trees and paths to walk the dogs off leash. The path winds through the trees and will take about 50 minutes to do the planned walk. The dogs will love it.

The Highway 21 Regional Park is a multi-purpose park serving residents across the County. Located on Highway 21 and Highway 628, the park is Strathcona County's only dog off-leash site.

From Wye Road (which is Sherwood Park Freeway), drive 3 km south on Highway 21, turn west onto Township Road 522 and watch for off-leash area signs (only a few hundred meters along TR 522). The parking lot is on the south side of TR 522.

From Whitemud Freeway (which becomes Township Road 522), continue east past the Highway 14 intersection until just before reaching Highway 21. Turn south into the off-leash parking lot. If you reach Hwy 21, turn around and you will see the signs.

The attached link has a map:https://www.strathcona... (https://www.strathcona.ab.ca/NR/rdonlyres/e5ycilvptjqcxehd2zpwku3vthi6c5v4dyz4zluahkigtfvexqhbzm7xgkbstkrdbmbar7e7q25scd5tpzztmlj6jha/Attachment-EEP-Regional-Park-Site-Survey-Map.pdf)

I will meet you just east of the parking lot at the gate to the off-leash area. I will have my cell phone on, just for the walk in case you are going to be late or get lost (780-690-5256). If the weather is -15 or colder, the walk will be cancelled.

Your dog does not need to be licensed in Strathcona County, but dogs in the off-leash area must be under control at all times - have your leash ready in case you need it.

Looking forward to seeing you and your pooches on Saturday, January 23rd at 11:00 a.m. for a nice winter walk in the park.
