We are back for another workshop, this time JavaScript due to popular demand!

WHFNP is committed to providing a safe environment for all, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, transness, physical appearance, body size, technical choices, lack of technical knowledge, ability, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, religion (or lack thereof).

The workshop will be focused on understanding JavaScript Promises and touching on some ES6 syntax:

We will look into how to use Promises & the fetch() API to grab some data from an api endpoint and render it on a page. You will be working at your own pace following some guidelines and we will have a few mentors available to help you out when you are stuck.

Some FAQs:

  • I am really new to coding is this for me?

Yes, you will be working in Codepen so no need to setup or know how to setup. The exercise is guided and suitable for all to try.

  • I am familiar with JavaScript but want to practice some! Can I come along?

Yes do come along anyway as we can make this tutorial more challenging or suggest something harder to try for example setting up the environment on your machine to support ES6 with webpack/gulp/grunt.

  • I am a BLANK can I come?

Anyone and everynone is welcome, Women Hack for Non-Profits is dedicated to helping get more women into tech, but we are equally committed to helping anyone else who has a desire to learn to code or volunteer on a Non-Profit project. Everyone is welcome.
