Joey Pouch Knitting & Crochet Crafternoons (beginners welcome)

Details

Hundreds of marsupial joeys come into the care of Wildlife Victoria's volunteers every year. All joeys, including possums, wombats, wallabies, koalas, and kangaroos, need to be kept warm and quiet, but while Wildlife Victoria's volunteer carers put in so much time and love when caring for these precious creatures, most don’t have time to knit or sew the pouches that they require for the little ones in care.

Luckily we've got the knitting skills so we can do it for them :) Let's meet up once a month to make pouches to keep our little joeys safe and warm. Bring 8ply 100% wool and size 4mm knitting needles. For more information on joey pouches and the pattern for the pouches check out the Wildlife Victoria website at:

http://www.wildlifevictoria.org.au/projects-a-activities

If you'd like to learn to crochet a Xmas decoration bring along a 4mm crochet hook and yarn. Readymade crochet kits of a hook, yarn and pattern in an organza bag are available to purchase for $10.

Beginners are most welcome to come along and learn to knit or crochet.
