Hello Photographers and Strobists!

http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/e/5/8/a/event_239218762.jpegBeen to Big Sur? Oh sure! What about sitting in a hot tub at the Esalen Institute watching the moon set into the Pacific at night? No? Well, here's your chance.

This is not strictly OCF, but if you are ready for something completely DIFFERENT, click that YES rsvp button!

This prime piece of spectacular California coast real estate is normally closed to public access, EXCEPT during the hours of 1am-3am. And then only with a reservation.

I have timed our visit to coincide with the setting of the moon. The next time that occurs is on Tuesday, 6/18 at 1:52am. If conditions are right, we will experience a magical sparkling Pacific, followed by an extraordinary night sky.

But where will I sleep, you ask? Not to worry, I have http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/e/7/b/0/event_239219312.jpegsnagged a highly prized campsite at Pfeiffer Big Sur state park, for Monday and Tuesday nights. The campground is about 14 miles north of the Esalen Institute. However, I can only accommodate a small group of people, so be the early bird and snag one of those spots for yourself.

What else?

· Photography of course (or you can relax with your favorite drink on the Big Sur river)

· Photography at the top Big Sur locations including Pfeiffer Beach at sunset, Bixby Bridge, Hurricane Point, Henry Miller Library, Nepenthe and more night photography

· Hanging out among tall redwoods and swimming in the Big Sur River

· Waterfalls! One that plunges onto the beach at the edge of the Pacific. The other a 60ft waterfall among redwoods.

· An exclusive tour of Point Sur lighthouse which is also not generally open to the public.http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/e/9/4/a/event_239219722.jpeg (Wednesday afternoon, on our way home)

If you plan to leave after work on Monday, know that Highway One closes at 9pm at Rocky Creek due to the ongoing construction project. So plan your travel accordingly. You may also join for only part of the workshop, if you do not want to take that much time off work.

I look forward to meeting more of you and sharing your passion for all things travel and photography.
