This is the 23rd of our monthly hands-on sessions in Apache Heron, a powerful streaming engine originally developed at Twitter.

We will help you prepare you for your journey into Apache Heron.

Agenda:
600-700: Heron's ECO API

Heron’s ECO offers one major difference over the Streamlet and Topology APIs and that is extensibility without recompilation. With the ECO API, developers now have a way to alter the way data flows through spouts and bolts without needing to get into their code and make changes. Topologies can be defined through a YAML based format that allows for the stitching of components together to create Heron jobs. This talk will give a gentle overview of streaming architectures and how Heron fits, the motivation behind the ECO API and will go into the details of how the API assembles a Heron job from a YAML specification.
