What could possibly go wrong? Ethics and software development.

Details
First MeetCast in 2021 and we will start with a bang!
TL;DR: We will have a pleasure to talk with Fiona Charles and James Christie about a topic that often is neglected but is very important for all of us - ethics in software development! As always - the central part of the meeting will be a discussion with the audience. You not only can but should ask questions. We are meeting online using zoom.us.
Meeting topic
What could possibly go wrong? Ethics and software development.
The first and second industrial revolution has made drastic changes to humanity. The average level of life has risen; more goods became available to the wider public. We started to influence and shape the world like no other species before. This accelerated growth also had some downsides for which we have to pay today - overpopulation, environmental changes, global warming, etc. We can see our influence with our bare eyes.
If the first two revolutions have transformed the psychical world in which we are living in, what impact on us will have the third and fourth industrial revolutions that we can observe now? Access to the Internet today is not only considered a commodity, but there is a dispute on should it be treated a basic human right. IoT, AI, 5G networks - all of this is transforming not the psychical world but the way we interact with each other. How often do we think about the impact of that on our lives?
Together with Fiona and James, we will talk about the issues around ethics in software development.
