Online Trading Academy NJ and the NJ Traders and Investors Meetup Group are hosting an open house to introduce our community to the concept and benefits of learning to trade options, and to dispel the myths that most have about them. We called the session Options 101, to explain and introduce the basic premise and benefits that options can bring to a stock account. We introduce our students to:

• What is an option…explaining the basics of calls and put options.

• Covered Calls…how to use options to generate monthly revenue on stocks they already own.

• Spread trading… how to profit on stocks potentially going nowhere, or just trading in a range. Yes, you can profit when wrong directionally.

• Naked Puts… how to use put options to buy stocks at a discount.

Even if you never thought options were something you wanted to expose yourself to, learning how they work will make you a better stock trader.

Here’s one comment from a student who attended the session: “I’ve traded options before and thought I knew them fairly well, but I really learned a lot!”

While perhaps another said it best…“ Wow, that was cool. You can be wrong on the direction you thought a stock was going to move in, sometimes by 10%...and still profit!”
