Women in Immersive Technologies have teamed up with award-winning filmmaker Joshka Wessels, Game Habitat and Boost Helsingborg to organise a Women in Immersive Tech meetup in Malmö, Sweden.

VR/AR/XR has been expanding rapidly both in Sweden and Europe but like in the gaming industry, women are still a minority group.
We bring together women who work actively in Immersive Tech for Meetups throughout Europe

The theme of this WiiT Meetup will be EMPATHY

VR has often been labelled the “Empathy Machine” because you can quite literally place someone in the shoes of someone else and sometimes even let them feel what others are feeling in the experience.
Alexandra and Joshka will talk about empathy and how it has shaped their ideas about immersive technologies. What is empathy actually ? Are we talking about compassion, point of view, affinity, insight and what role can Immersive Technologies play ?
Joshka has used the concept of empathy in her VR-360 creations, by creating what she calls “emotional mapping” of the story, how does a VR creator want the user to feel after each immersive experience ? But how does emotional mapping work for storyboarding ? What are the steep learning curves for working with empathy and immersive tech ? How does game design work with empathy ?
