Launch Event | Archibald, Wynne & Sulman Prizes 2026

Whether you're a regular gallery visitor or exploring these exhibitions for the first time, this community is about discovering art through conversation, curiosity and shared experiences.

For our launch event, we'll experience Australia's most prestigious annual art prizes—the Archibald, Wynne & Sulman Prizes 2026—while also offering members the opportunity to explore the Gallery's outstanding permanent collection.

Having already visited this year's exhibition, I was genuinely impressed by the quality and diversity of the finalists. The 2026 exhibition is exceptional, and I'm delighted to return to experience it again with fellow art lovers.

Itinerary:

11:00 am – Meet the Group

Venue: Information Desk (Main Entrance)
We'll gather, introduce ourselves and meet fellow members before beginning our gallery experience.

11:15 am – Coffee & Conversation

Venue: Gallery Café

Enjoy a relaxed coffee and casual conversation before exploring the Gallery.
Coffee and refreshments are optional and at each participant's own expense.

11:45 am – Choose Your Gallery Experience

Members are welcome to choose one of the following experiences.

Option A :

Archibald, Wynne & Sulman Prizes 2026 (Ticket Required)

Discover Australia's most celebrated portrait, landscape and subject painting prizes.
Take your time exploring the exhibition, discussing favourite artworks and sharing different perspectives with fellow members.

Option B :

Permanent Collection (Free Admission)

Explore the Art Gallery of New South Wales' remarkable permanent collection across both the North and South Buildings, including:

  • Australian Art
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art
  • Asian Art
  • International Art
  • Contemporary Art

Perfect for members who prefer the permanent collection or have already visited the prize exhibition. No ticket is required.

1:00 pm – Lunch Together

Venue: Gallery Café
We'll reunite for lunch to share our favourite discoveries from the morning, exchange ideas and enjoy great conversation.
Lunch is optional and at each participant's own expense.

2:00 pm – Continue Exploring

After lunch, members are free to enjoy the Gallery at their own pace.
You may wish to:

  • Visit the Prize Exhibition
  • Explore the Permanent Collection
  • Revisit your favourite artworks
  • Browse the Gallery Shop
  • Continue conversations with fellow members

There is no rush—simply enjoy an inspiring afternoon surrounded by art.

  • This AAA Art Lovers Australia event is FREE to join.
  • Admission to the Gallery's permanent collection is free.
  • A separate ticket is required for the Archibald, Wynne & Sulman Prizes 2026.
  • Participants are responsible for their own coffee, lunch, exhibition tickets and any personal purchases.
  • Please arrive at least 10 minutes early to allow time for introductions.
  • If your plans change, please update your RSVP as soon as possible.
  • Everyone is welcome—no art background is required, only curiosity, respect and a willingness to enjoy art together.
