Swim & Beach Hopping - Deal to Dover

HIGHLIGHT

WHAT TO EXPECT - HIKING INFO
Distance: 18km (c.11 miles)
Estimated Duration (approx): 6 hours walking
Difficulty: Moderate

DESCRIPTION
This is a beautiful part of the south-eastern coast and one of the finest coastal walks in the UK.

This will be an undulating walk along the coast - the mission is to get in a sea swim on our way to Dover (depending on the weather & water current naturally), as well as a tea and cake stop. You only have to exert yourself up two hills and the rest of the walk is pretty much flat.

We will start our walk in Deal - a town of significant historical interest. We pass Walmer and Deal Castle, will enjoy St Margarets Bay with a swim and visit South Foreland Lighthouse for a cake stop. The walk will become more and more dramatic as we head to the White Cliffs of Dover and end on the seafront on our way to the train station.

It will be a glorious day out – hopefully with sun on our backs as we comb those beaches and cake stops.

ps. My walks make time to enjoy the views, take in local history, and look at interesting buildings along the way.

PROGRAMME
You can choose to meet at London St Pancreas or the Hike Starting Point.
The applicable time and meeting points are detailed below.

MEETING POINT:
LONDON ST PANCREAS BY TICKET AREA/ STARBUCKS
We will assemble in front of the ticket machine area.

LONDON STATION MEETING DETAILS
Assembly Time:
08.30 am - for those looking to come in on the Group Save
08.45 am - for people who have their own tickets - move to the train
09.04 am - train departs
10.31 am - train arrives

HIKE START POINT
Leave at: 10.40am
Meetup Point: Deal Train Station - outside the front

RETURN
It is impossible to promise a specified finish train and time, but we aim to return to London on the 17.45 (arrives at 18.54) or 18.45 (arrives 19.56).

HIKE COST
The cost for the hike is £10 per person

For those buying their own tickets, please get a return to Deal

GROUP SAVE
If you want to be part of a group save option, please arrive at the meeting point no later than 08.30am (meetup's reporting system is malfunctioning, so I cannot offer the 'train & hike option' price for this hike).

Group save train fare is £28.70 - if you want to join in, please message me so we can make arrangements.

• Guided Hike planned and led by experienced AAA leaders - trained Lowland and Mountain Leaders with Wilderness First Aid Training.

CANCELLING/REFUNDS
Please update your RSVP to say ‘No’ if your plans change. Then, others can take advantage of the newly available place.
If the hike is complete, please email info@aaalondongroup.com after the event and request a refund, less the PayPal/Meetup fees. You must provide your email for the PayPal account and transaction reference.
