Past to Peace: The Forgotten Village, Cliffs of Calm & PeaceHaven Coastal Escape

Event description
Join us for a scenic and adventurous hike starting at Sothease station, winding through the peaceful South Downs, and uncovering the hidden hamlet of Telscombe, tucked away from time and crowds. We’ll continue on to Peace Haven cliffs, and onto Peace Haven meridean line, then striking coastline toward Newhaven, where cliffs, sea views and a super long pier reward the journey before the pub.
Expect rolling hills, secret paths, and a mix of countryside charm and coastal drama. A perfect day for nature lovers, curious wanderers, and those craving a lesser-known trail with a stunning seaside finish.

We will be joining up with the group who have been on my Lewes Bonfire event below, as we will be staying in Southease so the more the merrier!

Distance: 22km
Ascent: c.376 metres
Estimated Duration (approx.): 5-6 hours walking depending upon the speed of the group and excluding any breaks.
Difficulty: Energetic

Finish point: Southease station: 16:00ish

COST
The cost is £12 per person for hike only.
Once you’ve RSVP’d, check the private comments section of this Meetup event for the invitation link to join the WhatsApp group. This is where we’ll share updates, and answer questions (particularly if I’m temporarily unavailable). I’ll share my live location on the day, return train times, and group photos after the event.

HIKE INCLUDES

• Guided Hike planned and led by experienced AAA leader who is Lowland leader qualified, Wilderness First Aid qualified, Summer Mountain Leader trained.
• PayPal fees

• Lunch, drinks or any refreshments
• Souvenirs
• Meetup Fee levied on all purchases via meetup
• Entrance fees to any attractions you wish to visit

• Suitable hiking shoes or boots
• Waterproof jacket and trousers (Please no jeans!)
• Water [2L recommended]
• Warm/Windproof layer, e.g. Down/Primaloft/Fleece
• Wicking base layer, e.g. Polyester/Tencil/Merino

CANCELLING/REFUNDS
If you can no longer join the event, please message the host and update your RSVP status on MeetUp to 'Not going', to allow others to take your place. If the event sells out, and you have messaged us and have changed your RSVP to 'Not going', please email us on [[[info@aaalondongroup.com](mailto:info@aaalondongroup.com)](mailto:info@aaalondongroup.com)](mailto:info@aaalondongroup.com) after the event date, requesting a refund, including your PayPal email address, so we can locate the payment. Unfortunately, as PayPal retains the original transaction fee, we cannot refund this. If the hike is not full, we are sorry, we are unable to issue a refund.
