LOCATION

We chose our base - a former, old fishing village in the municipality of Palafrugell, with picture postcard beaches, coves and a Mediterranean flavour, for a reason. It has a special charm, and its old maritime quarter, Port Bo, has been declared a cultural asset of national importance. This quarter retains the original layout of the village, with its traditional white porched buildings. It includes the complex of vaults, originally used to sew nets and auction fish.

Calella de Palafrugell has coves and beaches linked via a well-engineered coastal walk known as the Cami de Ronda, passing along the cliffs and through several tunnels on the way. It was originally built to connect the diverse coastal towns, beaches and small bays. Later used to help the Carabineros control the coast and stop smuggling.

We will walk the most scenic sections of the path that winds down the coast from Begur to Calella de Palafrugell and further south to La Fosca.

HIKE GRADES

You will have a choice of walks, ranging from easy to moderate, all led by very capable hike leaders. AAA hike leaders have extensive navigational and hike-leading experience and are trained in wilderness first aid.

You can expect the shorter walks to be around 6 km and the longer 10-12 km.

The event starts at the Girona airport at 14:30 and finishes there at 18:35.

ACCOMMODATION

We are based at the Hotel Garbí, in one of the most beautiful places on the Costa Brava, the delightful town of Calella de Palafrugell, just 5 minutes away from the beaches, villages with rich cultural and gastronomic traditions.

The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool, an outdoor hot tub and large gardens around the hotel which are very quiet.

FOOD

Meals are provided as per the inclusions below. Most dietary requirements can be catered for if advised in advance.

The hotel rooms have small bar fridges. We plan to go out for 2 dinners.

You may make your packed lunch or have it in a beach restaurant.
