WHAT TO EXPECT
This trip was created following a 14-day Long Distance Hike and Wild Camping along the Hebridean Way, which was hosted by AAA in 2013. But many interested people disliked carrying rucksacks with two weeks of equipment. So, this trip has been created to enjoy hikes and scenery on these Isles while enjoying the comfort and flexibility of travelling by minibus. The group size is restricted to 12 guests.
HIKE GRADES
There will be a choice of hikes, ranging from Moderate to Energetic. AAA leaders have extensive navigational and hike-leading experience and are trained in wilderness first aid.
Hikes will be a mix of 2-3 hours around specific areas, taking in the best sights, with one in the morning and the other in the afternoon, with one or two longer linear beach hikes requiring most of the day.
ITINERARY
The event starts at Oban Port on Sunday 14th, September at 12:30 and finishes on Sunday, 21st, at noon at Inverness rail station or airport.
It is possible to take the overnight sleeper to Oban via Glasgow. Departing London on Friday evening. If you miss the ferry, you can be picked up in Castlebay on Sunday when the ferry arrives.
You can also benefit from free passage to Oban on Friday, 12th Sept, requiring two nights there. Message the host to discuss.
Our overall plan is based on the booked ferry schedule and camp locations. This leaves us with many of the hiking routes to walk in 2023. The final plan will be adjusted based on the weather conditions with an emphasis on hiking the best parts of the Hebridean Way whilst having the flexibility to take in more sights and miss out on the tedious parts of the HW.
