NEW: Outpost Ongar:Ghost of Long Lost Central Line, Heritage Steam Train Returns

DESCRIPTION
This is a £10 hike only event (different to the others which include train tickets)

Join us for a bank holiday countryside stroll along the ghost of the Central Line! Starting from Epping station, we’ll follow a scenic trail near the disused rail line through fields, woods, and heritage stations, finishing in Ongar (where the central line used to go to)
After lunch, either a direct bus back to Epping station or can take the heritage steam/diesel train back to North Weald then herritage bus 339 on the last leg to Epping underground station. This is 17km route so you’ll be back in time to freshen up for your night out.

Distance: 17km route
Estimated Duration (approx): 4 hours walking
Difficulty: *moderate*

PROGRAMME
09:00: Start from Epping Underground Station
11:00: Pass North Weald station
12:00: Pass Blake Hall station
13:15–13:30 Arrive in Ongar for lunch
14:10 After lunch, either a direct bus 20/21 back to Epping station (buses run roughly every 30–60 minutes, Journey time: ~25 minutes)
Or can take the heritage steam/diesel train back to North Weald then herritage bus 339 on the last leg to Epping underground station
14:30 - 15:00 Arrive back at Epping Central line station.

COST
The cost is £10 per person. for hike only.

• Guided Hike planned and led by experienced AAA leaders, trained Summer Mountain Leader with Wilderness First Aid Training.

RECOMMENDED KIT LIST (full list)

• Suitable hiking shoes or boots
• Waterproof jacket and trousers (Please no jeans!)
• Water [2L recommended]
• Warm/Windproof layer, e.g. Down/Primaloft/Fleece
• Wicking base layer, e.g. Polyester/Tencil/Merino

• Picnic lunch and snacks

CANCELLING/REFUNDS
Please update your RSVP to say ‘No’ if your plans change. Others can then take advantage of the newly available place.

Let the organiser know via a meetup message when have RSVP’d ‘No’

If the hike is full, please email info@aaalondongroup.com after the event and request a refund, less the PayPal/Meetup fees. You must provide your email for the PayPal account and transaction reference.
