HIKE DESCRIPTION
We’ll begin at Wimbledon Station, where the bustle of shops and cafés soon gives way to quieter streets leading towards Wimbledon Common – a wide mix of ancient woodland and heathland, where shaded paths weave between oak trees and open clearings.
After traversing the Common we’ll enter directly into Richmond Park, where deer graze freely among sweeping grasslands and grand avenues of chestnut and oak, with distant city views. If we're lucky, we'll see the deer rutting - red stags and fallow bucks competing for mates, often seen roaring and clashing antlers.
We’ll then descend to the banks of the Thames, which we’ll follow as it bends past boathouses and riverside pubs. The path will then take us through Kingston-Upon-Thames, across the river and through Hampton Court Park until the grand silhouette of Hampton Court Palace comes into view.
We’ll end by crossing back over the river, to Hampton Court Station or a local pub for a celebratory drink.
