From map to trail: Outdoor Navigation Training in the beautiful Chilterns

Join us for a day in the gorgeous Chiltern countryside where you'll learn practical navigation skills, build confidence outdoors and connect with like-minded adventurers while gaining the knowledge needed to plan your own escapes.
We have partnered with Wildfire Navigation for this beginner-friendly course on a circular walk through the impressive Ashridge Estate, combining hands-on learning with plenty of time to put new skills into practice.
Throughout the day, you'll learn about:
- Route planning
- Map reading and key map features
- Contours and understanding the landscape
- Grid references
- Compass bearings
- Navigation techniques and decision-making
- GPS and navigation apps
- Essential hiking equipment
Whether you're completely new to hiking, or looking to refresh and develop existing skills, this is a great opportunity to learn in a relaxed and supportive environment, share experiences with fellow outdoor enthusiasts and enjoy one of the most beautiful areas of the Chilterns.

Distance: 14km / 8.5 miles circular route
Ascent/Descent: 300 metres
Duration: 7 hours walking at a leisurely pace with plenty of stops for instruction and practice.
