Take advantage of one of the last warm days of 2018, get in a good short hike and enjoy the views.

Disc Golf (or Frisbee Golf if you prefer) is basically... golf, only easier to play and a lot more fun for a casual or beginner player. Instead of hitting a little white ball into a hole, you throw a disc into a basket.

Disc golf discs are not really Frisbees; they are denser and a little smaller in diameter, and not suitable for catching. I think I've seen them in Walmart up here for a few dollars. Maybe Target has them as well, and I am sure several Summit County outdoor shops must carry them, but there is no need to buy one if you are new to Disc Golf. Just use one of mine.

I stopped in at the Dillon course this week for the first time and played 9 holes (baskets?), which is half the course. It took me about 45 minutes including the 10 minute hike up to the starting point.

The second half of the course looks a little more compact and efficiently laid out. Plus the course finishes down at the parking area. Still, I imagine it could take a good 2 hours to finish a round with multiple players, especially if some time gets eaten up looking for wayward discs.

There are very nice views, and the course is quite steep. Playing a full round would be a good little hiking workout.

I'll attach a couple of photos of the views from the course.

WHAT TO BRING
*A DISC if you have one, but I'll have a few extra.
*SHOES you trust for slippery steep hiking.
(There is loose dirt and gravel on inclines in some places.)
*An EXTRA LAYER might be a good idea, in case of a late day harsh temperature drop on the mountain.
*Bottle of WATER

I didn't even know there was a course in Dillon until recently. I am definitely a non-serious and unskilled disc golfer. :-) Anyone who wants to join me for a fun casual round is welcome to stop by Sunday at 4 PM. I'll be in the parking area.

Hope to see you there!
Dan
