AAC New York Winter Outing
Adirondack Rock & River, 615 Alstead Hill Lane, Keene, NY, USOne of our most popular AAC NY events is the annual Winter Outing at Adirondack Rock & River Lodge in Keene, NY. Traditionally by late January, conditions in the Dacks have set up to provide a weekend of winter climbing fun and socializing. Escaping to the warm comforts of the Lodge with friends is always a welcome respite from the city.
We have booked the entire facility for the exclusive use of NY AAC members. Participation is open to active AAC members and their guests.
In addition to ice climbing, there are many other winter pursuits at our doorstep including winter mountaineering and snowshoeing, skiing (backcountry, downhill, or cross-country), rock climbing the Lodge chimney and of course, relaxing with a beverage around the fire. There is also much to see and do in nearby Lake Placid.
Independent climbing and other recreational activities are self-organized; you are responsible for your own equipment, partner, etc. An activity and contact sheet will be sent prior to the event to help facilitate partner coordination. A group instructional ice climbing clinic will be available for an additional fee for those not climbing independently, and will include equipment rental. Another option is private guiding (arrange in advance). We'll have a group restaurant reservation for those who want to meet other participants for dinner on Friday night (separate expense).
Pricing is $280 per person (double occupancy) or $250 per person (group room) and includes Fri & Sat night lodging, all social events including Saturday social hour around a roaring fire, Saturday catered dinner followed by evening entertainment, Sunday Pancake Fest, and self-serve breakfasts & bag lunches. Couples will have priority for the limited rooms with double beds. Thursday arrival is possible for an additional fee. No cancellations or refunds without a substitute. 50% cancellation fee even with a substitute if you cancel within 7 days of the Outing.
Shortly before the event we will send out a contact list and a weekend schedule.
Reservations are not confirmed until payment is received and waiver is completed.
