AI that creates art, should we compensate artists its inspired by?

Imaging AI is developing fast like hotpot.ai. Also ChatGPT will soon have imaging as a main function.

When I copy and transform another artist work, I never compensate the person who made the original. However I only make one piece while an AI can make millions of copies using the same image. This threatens designers and like the music business, should artists be compensated for inspiring an AI? Is it just the original work that matters, should the original artist get acknowledgement?
