Trip to the Braille Institute to observe a class being taught & tour

Details

This month's UX Breakfast Club has been replaced by a trip to the Braille Institue (http://www.brailleinstitute.org/) to observe a class on Internet Explorer or Microsoft Word being taught. The event takes place on Wednesday, October 17 at 9:15AM and is limited to 5 people. When you arrive, please ask for Diane Wilkenson.

This visit to the Braille Institute is taking place a few days before Accessibility Camp (http://www.accessibilitycamp.org) kicks off on October 20 at California State University, Northridge. It's being lead by Jennison Asuncion (http://twitter.com/#%21/Jennison) and Joe Devon (http://twitter.com/#%21/joedevon/). The Accessibility Camp (http://www.accessibilitycamp.org) will focus on digital (web, mobile, gaming, etc.) accessibility and users with disabilities. Follow the event on twitter @A11yCampLA (http://twitter.com/#%21/A11yCampLA).

If the trip to the Braille Institute doesn't have any open spaces left, be sure to join the waiting list. It's likely that there will be spots that become available.

Special thanks to Christine Valdez with the Low Vision Rehabilitation department of the Braille Institute and Diane Wilkenson, who will be our guide.

Parking & Directions: The Braille Institute is on the corner of N. Vermont and Melrose Ave.

Drive South on Vermont and turn right onto Melrose Ave. Turn at the first street, which is one-way, called New Hampshire. For free parking, look for the "Braille Guest Parking" sign. Inside the parking structure, circle around to "Volunteer & Guest Parking" area, which is next to "Reception Elevators". Take the elevators and go to the reception desk on the 1st floor. Be sure to mention you are joining the 9:15am tour and state your affiliation.
