AarhusJS finally returns after many months of absolute nothing, and we are super happy to be back - meeting IRL!

This time we will meet at Mjølner Informatics, and we will have 3 great talks by some experienced speakers... Remember to sign up as we have a limited number of seats!

Title: GitHub Actions and workflows
Abstract: Lars introduces GitHub Actions and GitHub action workflows and answers the following questions. What can GitHub workflows automate? What can trigger GitHub action workflows? Which types of GitHub Actions can we pick from when implementing our own that are either project-specific or published on GitHub Marketplace? Finally, a CI workflow for an Angular project is demonstrated.
Speaker: Lars Gyrup Brink Nielsen
Bio: Lars is a Co-Founder of an Open Learning non-profit called This is Learning. He's a Tech Writer at This is Angular. Lars speaks at meetups, conferences, and livestreams worldwide. He's a FOSS maintainer and Open Learning contributor. Lars is also a Microsoft MVP in Developer Technologies and a GitHub Star. As a Frontend Architect at Systemate, he architects and delivers cloud native solutions for the Danish energy industry using Continuous Delivery and automation with modern tech stacks and toolchains built for scale.

Title: The missing pieces of writing valuable tests
Abstract: Have you ever struggled with automating tests of your front-end application(s)? If so, you're not alone!
In this talk, Alexander will take you through the wilderness of automating testing and give you some golden rules of thumbs that changed and simplified his mindset of tests. Doing the talk, Alexander will go through critical areas like:
Why and why not should we write automated tests for our front-end in the first place?

  • The importance of common terminology and speaking the same language, especially across competencies.
  • How to write valuable and maintainable tests
  • What and what not to test to avoid common pitfalls?
    At the end of this talk, you will know why, how, and what to test a front-end application.
    Speaker: Alexander Hafstad Kubrak
    Bio: Alexander is an incarnated front-end developer and front-end architect. He was one of the people who started the Angular community in Denmark and has been an organizer of the Angular community in Copenhagen ever since, including ngVikings which was the first Angular conference in Scandinavia. For the past three years, he has worked as a Tech Lead at Jyske Bank but is now working as a freelance consultant helping out enterprise companies succeed with their front-ends.

Title: By the same Token - consistent design in code through Design Tokens
Abstract: In this talk Jakob will take you on the journey that design tokens travel from designer to developer within the framework of a design system. We'll start by covering the basics of Design Systems but quickly turn the spotlight on Design Tokens: What are Design Tokens? How to define and structure tokens? Creating a themable design system through a multi-tiered variable system. Storing and distributing tokens - and how to automate it. Applying tokens within the design system's component library and applications. Finally, it's demo time! We'll use our newly gained knowledge in an endeavour to build the world's tiniest design system: tinyDS™
Speaker: Jakob Engelbrecht
Bio: Jakob is a freelance software developer with 20+ years experience who loves all things HTML, CSS & JS! He helps organsations succeed with frontend development by choosing the right architecture, tech stack & CI/CD, working actively as tech lead to enable development teams but also loves getting his hands dirty doing actual code! For the last 3 years Jakob has been focusing on building Design Systems within larger organisations.
