Talks:
Title: What it means to volunteer at HackYourFuture
Abstract: HackYourFuture is a Danish non-profit that helps refugees, asylum seekers, and other disadvantaged groups - who have limited access to further education and the Danish labour market - acquire the necessary skills to build a career in web development. We do this by running an 8-month long bootcamp (JavaScript stack) with classes every Sunday from 12-16, taught by volunteer IT-professionals. We recently started up classes in Aarhus and will stop by AarhusJS with a quick talk about the different volunteer opportunities at HackYourFuture. You can learn more at www.hackyourfuture.dk.
Title: Managing npm packages
Abstract: Trying to end the days of overwhelming breaking changes, unresolved peer dependency issues, and endless security warnings 🪦
Speakers: Martin Torp & Anders Søndergaard
Bio: Martin and Anders are co-founders of the Aarhus-based startup Coana. Coana is building a tool to improve package management for JavaScript/Typescript developers.
At the meetup they will demo their recently launched beta - an extension for VS Code - and present their ambitions (and possibly naive) plans to set new standards for how packages are managed.
Title: Building sustainability into your web presence
Abstract: The IT industry is responsible for 3-4% of global CO2 emissions. As developers we all have a responsibility to deliver digital experiences in the most sustainable way.In this session, we’ll share best practices on how to build sustainability into your web presence and deliver insights to help you minimize the climate impact of your website by diving into initiatives that will help you reduce carbon emissions.
Speaker: Filip Bech-Larsen
Bio: Filip is a frontend developer focusing on delivering great user-experiences to the end-user. He is the CTO for Umbraco CMS, pushing the largest .NET Open Source CMS forward. Filip is passionate about the web, and cares not only about clean and efficient code, but also about accessibility and performance, in order for the web to be available and accessible for everybody.
