What we’re about
The American Association of University Women Buffalo Branch was established in 1890 and remains one of the oldest and most active branches in the nation.
Our Purpose:
• To promote gender equity, lifelong learning, and positive societal change through community programs for continuing education, scholarships, and interest-free loans
• To provide a forum for graduates of different educational institutions to promote intellectual growth, individual worth, and development of opportunities for all people, especially women and girls
• To contribute to the growth and advancement of the educational policies and programs of AAUW
• To promote AAUW philanthropic initiatives for the public good, focusing on quality of life
AAUW Buffalo Branch awards approximately $40,000 annually and has now distributed over $1 million in various scholarships. Our biggest fundraiser is an annual used book sale. Funds are also generated from donations and member support.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit run entirely by volunteers, with no paid staff or governmental or other subsidies.
