Surrey Pub Chute 40 miles

Details
Experience Riverside and Green Chain views within an amazingly pleasurable route, mostly away from traffic at a reasonable pace for a planned late lunch stop as a sociable opportunity to recharge at a Surrey town pub restaurant then get a train back to central London with the optional convenience of Oyster cards, contactless payment cards and Apple Pay devices (NFC) at similar costs to GroupSave paper tickets. The end point of this pleasant 40 miles city to country ride will be near a convenient train station that accepts the same NFC payment options listed above.
We meet at the entrance of Hoxton Overground station at 10am, for earlier arrivals the adjacent Beagle Cafe (http://www.beaglelondon.co.uk/coffee/) (E2 8HZ) may appeal for pre-ride coffees. Hoxton is directly accessible with bikes on the London Overground and interlinked with several stations including Clapham Junction and Whitechapel via District, Hammersmith & City lines plus the DLR (http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/bicycle-tube-map.pdf).
No one will be left behind, however if you are struggling to keep up then we will point you in the direction of the nearest station. Whilst attending Another Bike Event there may be a time when you are unintentionally separated from the group. To regroup you may want to use the Glympse GPS tracker application that can be installed on most mobile devices from this link for free. (http://www.glympse.com/)
This ride is more suitable for geared bikes without suspension (activated) due to steep Surrey Hills gradients and intended pace on rural roads plus country lanes. It can be done more efficiently with between 20mm to 32mm road bike tyres that can handle some light off-roading too.
Having the right clothing such as breathable water/wind proofs means the weather (http://www.amazon.co.uk/b?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1634&creative=6738&linkCode=ur2&node=324144011&site-redirect=&tag=abe0c-21) such as rain may be incidental to another bike event going ahead. This meetup may be weather dependent so 12 hours before the event begins if blizzards, earthquakes, tsunamis or plagues of locust are forecast then the event may be cancelled, please check this website and your emails the evening before the event begins.
Helmets, lights, and a spare inner tube will be compulsory. Every week someone has a puncture.
For peace of mind, if your bike is relatively expensive and/or insured it may be advisable to bring a lock for the lunch stop. We aim to keep bikes close and secure, although depending on seating availability on the day we may not have a direct line of sight of bikes during lunch.
