What we’re about

Welcome to the Abergavenny and North Monmouthshire Social Meet Up Group.
We are restarting a local Meet Up group and this time opening it up to people from the wider North Monmouthshire area (or further afield if you are willing to travel).

The group is for everyone aged 40 years+ who is looking to increase their social contacts whilst using local outlets and events. We are a friendly group. Humour, laughter, fun, support, and acceptance are the order of the day.

Our aim is to host a variety of social events throughout the year using and supporting local venues and social occasions to suit all budgets ––eg meals out, cinema, pub quizzes, comedy nights, planned walks, music /theatre or just a cup of coffee and catch up (please check out planned events on our Meet Up site). Its a great way to expand your social circle, meet new friends/ acquaintances and build some lasting connections.

We welcome suggestions for new activities from group members and also encourage members to host events if they are comfortable to do so and the event aligns with the ethos of the group.

To join the group we request that you have a clear and up to date photo of yourself on your Meet Up profile. There is an annual membership fee of £8 per year which is used towards the annual subscription fees to run the group. You will be informed how to pay once you request to join the group.

We understand that meeting new people or attending new events alone may be daunting for some. Low key meet and greet events are arranged throughout the year for newcomers. But you also have the option of liaising with the organiser or event host so that we can support you during your first few events.
So if you are new to the area, recently single, wanting to reconnect with members of your local community, in need of company or just want to increase your social outlets this may be the group for you.

Come and join us, we look forward to meeting you.

Disclaimer – as organisers and hosts we are unable to accept responsibility for any accidents or losses you sustain during any social events. It is recommended that you personally undertake your own assessment to ensure the activity or venue is suitable for your needs.
The organisers have the right to remove members from the group should their behaviour become too challenging for other members.
