August Community Meetup: nabii aka Second Skin
Details
Event Info:
Join us for our August meetup with nabii aka Second Skin, fresh from performances at Pitch Music & Arts, Beyond The Valley and Mezzanine at Miscellania. She’ll be sharing the Ableton projects behind her two (very different) worlds, unpacking how studio productions become immersive live shows through processed vocals, effects, automation and routing. Whether you make electronic music, perform live or are just curious about bridging the gap between the studio and the stage, this is the one to catch.
About nabii:
nabii (aka Second Skin) is a naarm based artist, producer, dj and event organiser. Her practice is rooted in curiosity, a love for world building and storytelling. nabii explores the edges of hyperpop and dance music and the spaces in between. Her live performances involve a hybrid set up, centred around a euphoric dancefloor experience. Performing at venues like Max Watts, The Vanguard, Miscellania and The Howler, and festivals such as Beyond The Valley, Pitch Music & Arts and For The Cause. Her work is featured internationally across Mixmag Asia, Hanoi Community Radio, Dublab’s Apex, Rinse FM, Desire Path Radio and Hulahoopfm. With national support from Triple R, FBI Radio and Triple J.
Second Skin is an alt pop/trip hop nightcap to soundtrack your comedown. Enigmatic, raw and sultry, expect an intimate live performance filled with ethereal vocals and moody basslines.
Outside of her two aliases she’s a part of a live liquid drum and bass duo ‘eth3r3al’. She’s the founder of AngelFM, a community radio show dedicated to building a community and platform for fem / GNC individuals in the scene. As an event organiser she makes up one half irl.world an event series made for internet enthusiasts, uplifting emerging artists in the PC music adjacent world. She's also a part of Thread, a South / East Asian-led event series spotlighting and exploring Asian identity in the electronic music scene.
