We'll take Trampas Lakes trail up, scramble up the ridge (no trail), hit an unnamed peak and then scramble up North Truchas. Then we'll go back the way we came, past where we scrambled up the ridge from the lakes, hit Sheepshead's Peak, scramble down (no trail) to San Leonardo Lakes and take the trail (and a shortish road walk) back to the cars. We could also hit Jicarilla Peak while we're up there if people want - it wouldn't add too much more distance. See a detailed trip description here. And here's a rough map.

Mileage: 14.6 miles

Elevation Gain: 5,120 ft

Let's plan on camping the night before along Forest Rd 207 so we can get a good start in the morning without leaving super early. If you don't want to camp with us and will meet us in the morning, just let me know. We'll meet at the Target on Paseo to carpool on Friday evening.

Dogs are welcome on this hike if the are comfortable scrambling. My last dog was not able to summit North Truchas, but if that's the case for your dog, just wait on the ridge and we'll be back! I'll be bringing my friendly dog - she's a better climber than my last dog so we'll see if she makes it!

This is a hard hike, so I will need to approve you before moving you from the wait list. Please add yourself to the waitlist and then fill out this form and I'll approve you as soon as I can. This hike will be limited to 10 people.
