[HARD] Santa Fe Baldy Winter Hike/Showshoe
Details
To go on this trip, you must fill out this Google Form AND add yourself to the meetup event waitlist. Once I have reviewed your form, I will add you to the "Going" list or contact you and let you know that this is not the trip for you. You should have experience snowshoeing 10+ miles to go on this trip.
Join me on a winter summit of Santa Fe Baldy! 13 - 14 miles roundtrip with over 3400 feet of gain. We'll start from Ski Santa Fe and take the Winsor trail up to the Skyline trail and then take the ridge up. If there's enough snow, we may take a shortcut down back to the meadow. The ridge up to the summit is often windy and cold. This will be a long day and you should bring plenty of food, water/electrolytes, layers and a headlamp in case we finish in the dark. You must bring snowshoes and microspikes.
Dogs are welcome if they have experience hiking 12+ miles in snow, including deep snow. You must be able to manage your dog in the snow and if there are dangerous parts of the route (ie cornices), you must be able to keep your dog nearby/safe. Please bring musher's wax or booties for your dog, even if you think they don't need them.
We'll meet at the Target of Paseo to carpool or let me know if you'll meet us at the trailhead. We will meet at 5:50am and leave by 6am.
Please remember, you must fill out this Google Form AND add yourself to the meetup event waitlist if you want to attend this event.
