Balloon Viewing Silent Hike in the Foothills: Start Near Spain & Tramway

Meeting Location: Michael Emory Trailhead
From the intersection of Spain and Tramway, go East on Spain. Turn right on to Hight Desert Pl. Take your first left which will lead you into the parking lot where we'll meet. It's possible this lot may be full. In that case, you may park in the surrounding neighborhood and walk over to the trail head which you'll find adjacent to this parking lot. This is where we'll meet.

Event Description: This event brings enjoying the balloon fiesta, nature, walking, community, silence, and mindfulness together. We'll walk for about a 35 minutes, find a resting spot to enjoy the view of the balloons for about 20 minutes, and then walk back about 35 minutes.

• Pace: Slow (about 1.5/mph)
• Total Mileage: About 2 miles
• Midway Rest Time: About 20 minutes
• Terrain: Mostly clear a flat with mild increase in elevation
• Contemplative Focus: Appreciating and noticing what you see
• Shade: Very Limited
• Short Breaks: Every 15-20 minutes

What to Bring:
- Water
- Sun protection (Hat, Sunglasses, Sunscreen, etc.)
- Good walking shoes
- Snack (if desired)
- Anything else that's helpful to you
- Camera (if you like to talk photos of balloons)
- Dress appropriately for the weather (layers encouraged)
- Something to sit on during rest/balloon-viewing portion (towel, blanket, etc.)

Extras:

1. There will be more traffic due to the Balloon Fiesta, so be sure to plan plenty of time for travel to the trail start.
