An Afternoon with Justin Romine: It Came Out of the Sky

Details

UFOs have captivated the minds of artists throughout human history, especially those who have had encounters of their own. Filmmaker Justin Romine channels inspiration from his own otherworldly experiences into his upcoming film, “It Came Out of the Sky.”

Originating from a small town near Chicago and a film scholar from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Justin has crafted his filmmaking skills under the tutelage of David Schmoeller, the acclaimed director of Puppet Master and Crawlspace. He has worked as a Festival Coordinator for Christopher Coppola, brother of Nicolas Cage and nephew to Francis Ford Coppola.

Currently residing in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Justin excels as a television news video editor, capturing the dynamic pulse of the everyday while nurturing a family alongside his cinematic ventures. His works echo his diverse interests from smoking meats to cheering for the Chicago Cubs, each reflecting his intricate storytelling prowess.

Justin will discuss his latest film venture, “It Came Out of the Sky.” The film follows Detective Jensen as he unravels a perplexing mystery involving Barney, a man lost to time and space after encountering a mysterious light. Concurrently, the film weaves the tale of Luna, a rideshare driver entangled in the suspicious disappearances of her passengers. This narrative promises to thrust you into the depths of alien intrigue and the enigma of UFO phenomena.

Interactive Discussion:

Engage with Justin as he shares his personal UFO experiences and the inspiration behind his films. This discussion will serve as a bridge between the realms of cinematic fiction and the real-world reports of UFO sightings, particularly in the rich and mysterious landscapes of New Mexico.

Justin will be joined by Stuart Wahlin, who will speak with us via video. In addition to being an actor, Stuart Wahlin is an award-winning screenwriter and filmmaker, a published author and ghostwriter, and a musician. He credits his background as a TV news videographer for development of his cinematic eye, and his experience as a print journalist for having honed his writing skills and discipline.

Wahlin first met director Justin R. Romine on the set of Justin’s 2011 film, Afraid of Sunrise, in which he played a vampire. Their common love for filmmaking and the Chicago Cubs has kept them friends ever since.

On the night before principal photography began for It Came Out of the Sky, Wahlin believes he saw a UFO in the sky over Albuquerque.

The Minnesota native lives in Illinois with his wife and a legion of cats.
