What we’re about
This is a meetup for reading, discussing and practicing Self Inquiry, as lived by Richard Rose, Rupert Spira, Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadatta Maharaj, Adyashanti, Eckhart Toll and many others...
Self-Inquiry can be described as the simple practice of asking "Who Am I?" -- and by using our common sense & intuition to retreat from what is not US (even though we do not know what/who this US is). This process has been referred to as the reverse-vector (R Rose). We do not postulate what IS Our True Nature, rather we move away from what is NOT our True Nature (un-Truth) and ultimately uncover - "back" into TRUTH.
We are currently doing online Meetups only via Zoom.
All seekers are welcome.
This group was founded on the conviction that our investigation of life's mysteries is expedited by working with others who are exploring, perhaps down a different road, so that we may share our discoveries, exchange ideas, and "compare notes" in order to come to a better understanding of our self and others.
We search for "Truth" and Self-definition through self-inquiry... while fostering honest and open discussion of the ways and means for accomplishing this among friends and fellow seekers...
We welcome people who share an interest in or are just curious about the questions of Who/What Are We?... Are We More Than Our Bodies?… Just Who/What is this WE.. US… I?... Is There Such A Thing As Enlightenment?…
We support and encourage the hard questions. Join us and share your experience and insights. This group is free of dogma - and is intended as a gateway to introduce people to the many paths available to explore our potentials by investigating the (capital T) Truth about who we Are. We will explore the writings of those who appear to have found (become, awakened to) THE (capital A) Answer. We will dig deep & question everything.
Our meetings consist of an informal and open discussion of spiritual paths, teachings, techniques, and possible ways and means of expediting the "awakening" process.

> Who/Whom/What is ultimately behind the set of eyes reading these words?
> Can “we” “evolve-change" our level of consciousness to where we can see/know/become/understand who we are, where we come from, where we are/can go/ing, how our lives exist as they are and how can we make changes to our-“selves”? > Can we get a glimpse of what is possible for us? > Where can we go with questions? > How can we know what is real or true?... There seems to be a lot of BS out there!
> Is "Reality/Enlightenment" an ever evolving/growing/awakening/becoming to Know Reality - that channeled information or the "Multidimensionalists" speak of, like Seth / Bashar 1 / Abraham-Hicks /Conversations With God: "Be the grandest version of the greatest vision of your highest self"...
> What Can We Learn from NDE'S ? (near death experiences)... *Nanci Danison / *Natalie Sudman / Anita Moorjani/ Dannion Brinkley / Dr Eben Alexander... > What about Gurdjieff's philosophy?... Gurdjieff says "We cannot be born until we die, and we cannot die until we awake." and "man has to develop a soul—he is not born with one". Unlike many other philosophies and spiritual ways... Gurdjieff's system requires questioning and personal verification.
> What about “Astral projection” - is our Spiritual Evolution based on our ability to have "out" of "body" experiences? (Robert Monroe... Thomas Campbell... William Buhlman... Jurgen Ziewe...).. AND VERY interestingly... WHAT is this "Out-Of-The-"Body" stuff?... What can we learn from "it"? Is it possible that "we" are always "out" as well as "in" our body?... Is it possible that we don't "leave" our body... but rather our body-consciousness is reduced and that we become aware of a "larger" part of Us "beyond" this physical "dimension"?... Can these types of experiences actually lead us to know Who We Are?... What Is The Meaning Of Life?...
> Richard Rose / Ramana Maharshi / Nisargadatta Maharaj / Adyashanti / Rupert Spira / Eckhart Tolle / Sailor Bob speak of: the "dissolution" of the self: described as lowering a bucket of water into a well... the original water in the bucket is no more... also the notion that there can not be a "path" to the "Truth"... the "Truth" is Here... "you cannot know the Truth, you can only Become the Truth"... The Buddhist's have an interesting concept: *Sahaja Nirvikalpa Samādhi: ... "*the distinction of knower, act of knowing, and object known becomes dissolved — as waves vanish in water...". The difference to the other samadhis is that there is no return from this samādhi into lower states of consciousness. Therefore they say this is the discovery of The True Self - “Enlightenment”. (as per the Buddhists as well as the Rose group above)
> Fred Davis - a bit quirky and easy to understand approach to NonDuality
> Francis Bennett experienced what he has come to call, “a radical perceptual shift in consciousness”, in which he discovered the ever present presence of spacious, pure awareness. He came to see that this awareness is actually the unchanging essence of who he really is and always has been; the Supreme Self, talked about by many sages and saints from many spiritual traditions down through the ages.
> Bernadette Roberts has had very interesting experiences that begin and end with Self.
> There are MANY different “explanations/concepts” of “Truth” – most are very very similar once you get to know/understand their “ideas”… One common concept is that there IS a “CREATOR”: Source, (The) Absolute, All That Is, One Without A Second, Presence, God, Our Creator, Am That I Am, Being, Essence, Endlessness, etc... ANOTHER common concept is that WE CAN change/grow/evolve/Become/have access to our ability(consciousness/higher centers) to get “closer” “higher” to THE SOURCE OF ALL THAT IS (etc..)
So... could there be A Source (of all that is...ect... ... emphasis on A) and ALL ELSE is just a "non-perfect" viewpoint of THE Projection from/of All That Is (ect...)... ---- Is EVERYTHING 'cept the Absolute nature of "All-That-Is" (ect...) an illusion? (is it possible that if we have an experience of everything being an "illusion" that that experience is itself part of the "illusion"?)
> Maybe there isn't any such "Absolute Truth"?... Maybe what we call "Our Reality" is an ever changing "matrix" that we may or may not have any ability to ever know or effect?...

Bernadette Roberts Richard Rose It is very probable that the aspect/"angle" of our perception determines what we perceive - we could be observing/understanding the same "thing" as someone else but see/understand something totally different because we are observing from a different aspect/"angle"... (mathematically speaking: an infinite number of what appear to be unique "things" are observed when 3 dimensional entities views a single 4th or 5th dimension "thing" from various "angles/viewpoints")
