I have been organizing chess tournaments for last 6 months in Abu Dhabi.
Every Saturday we gather and play Over the board Rapid chess along with some fun hand and brain games. In the end the winner takes a small trophy and winning certificate.

What is happening on 11th October?
We are organizing yet another RAPID chess tournament event where all available chess enthusiasts are invited to compete in the SWISS format rounds!
The event will take place at LEENS Restaurant at WTC mall in ABU DHABI unless otherwise communicated.
The event is free for kids
For all working individual a small amount of AED 10 will be collected in Cash. This is to cover the costs for trophies, certificates, boards.
Confirmation via message is important before arriving at the event.
Prizes: Winner to get a Trophy, a winning Certificate Winner and Runners up get a free pass for RAPID 2025 Championship by Abu Dhabi Chess Lovers club (This event will take place in December with good prize money).
How many people to expect and who are they?
Our average count is around 8-10 people on Saturdays .
All our members are connected in our WhatsApp group chat where most of communication takes place.
People are from all nationalities including kids and women too
To grow the club and make it big, we are now on meetup. We will be growing big soon (currently approx. 160+ members).
To make it affordable we will never increase the match fee > AED 10
Also, the match fee covers you for entire October (We are not here to make profit. We are here just to make a nice and active chess group)
Is there something I should know before coming?
Yes, we play chess at a Restuarant who allows us space to play comfortably. So, minimum of one order (ex. a coffee or a cold drink helps us to maintain a balance between space vs their profit arrangement). The Coffee is around AED 23. The venue will be changed in future to a place where there is no compulsion to buy any drinks. For past 6 months we have been playing here and all members are fine with the setup but new ideas are welcome
The group is organized for everyone and on some weekends, parents also bring their kids who are sharp at chess. To maintain decency, we request everyone to behave nicely. Be nice and be respectful. Unruly behaviour, political comments, any negative vibes will not be accepted.
You can also come to play just for fun as we also have fun event where we play at end of all SWISS rounds, a game called HANDs and BRAIN which is a team game of chess with lots of fun
