Welcome to the world of Over the board chess! This is your host Pawan Kumar Jha.
I have been organizing chess tournaments for last 8 months in Abu Dhabi. Every Weekend we gather and play Over the board Rapid chess along with some fun hand and brain games. In the end the winner takes a small trophy and winning certificate.

What is happening on the 7th of December?

  • We are organizing yet another RAPID chess tournament event where all available chess enthusiasts are invited to compete in the SWISS format rounds!
  • Time control:

10+2

  • The event is free for kids
  • For all working individual a small amount of AED 10 will be collected in Cash. This is to cover the costs for trophies, certificates, boards.
  • Confirmation via message is important before arriving at the event.
  • Unlimited chess style photo clicks with Chesssets and trophy

a. Winner to get a Trophy, a winning Certificate
How many people to expect and who are they?

  • Our average count is around 10-12 people on Weekends. Last event we had 15 people with us!
  • All our members are connected in our WhatsApp group chat where most of communication takes place.
  • People are from all nationalities including kids and women too
  • To grow the club and make it big, we are now on meetup. We will be growing big soon (currently approx. 210+ members).

Is there something I should know before coming?

  • Yes, we play chess at a Restaurant/Cafe who allows us space to play comfortably. While ordering food or coffee is not mandatory as a group 50% of us can order at least a coffee so we maintain a decent give and take relation
  • The group is organized for everyone and on some weekends, parents also bring their kids who are sharp at chess. To maintain decency, we request everyone to behave nicely. Be nice and be respectful. Unruly behaviour, political comments, any negative vibes will not be accepted.
  • You can also come to play just for fun as we also have fun events where we play at the end of all SWISS rounds, a game called HANDs and BRAIN which is a team game of chess with lots of fun
  • After a loss table slams like Magnus Carlsen not allowed as their tables might break- Don't expect organizer to cover for such loses 😂
