Enjoy a calm and scenic fall morning fishing at Lake Meriwether, one of Woodbury’s most peaceful fishing spots.

We’ll target bass, crappie, bream, and catfish as the sun rises over the lake — prime feeding time for most species. Whether you’re a beginner learning to cast or an experienced angler testing new gear, this is a relaxed, no-pressure outing with great views and good company.

## Who Should Come:

  • Beginners wanting to learn the basics
  • Experienced anglers who enjoy fellowship
  • Anyone who loves nature, calm water, and good company

## Why Morning:

The early hours around sunrise are the most active bite times in October.
Cooler water temperatures, low light, and steady oxygen levels make dawn ideal for crappie, bass, and catfish. Midday tends to slow down, so we’ll focus on the most productive hours.

## Schedule:

| Time | Activity | Details |
| ---- | -------- | ------- |
| 6:30 AM | Meet-up & Setup | Sign in, introductions, gear prep |
| 6:45 AM | Sunrise Fishing | Best bite time begins — cast off together |
| 8:30 AM | Mid-Morning Drift | Explore shaded spots, brush, and drop-offs |
| 10:30 AM | Wrap-up | Group photo (optional) and take-home catches |

## What to Bring:

  • Valid Georgia fishing license (One Day License - $5: Residents/ $10: Non-Residents)
  • Fishing gear (rod & reel - $12.38, tackle & bait - $11.23)
  • $3 day-use fee for park access (pay onsite)
  • Optional: chair, hat, small cooler, water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray, camera and breakfast/snacks

## Reminders:

  • No trotlines, set hooks, or fish baskets allowed.
  • Practice safe catch handling and respect the environment.
  • If the weather is extreme (lightning, heavy storms), the event will be rescheduled.

## Pro Tips:

  • Try light jigs for crappie and slow crankbaits or worms for bass.
  • We'll focus on fallen trees, brush piles, and drop-offs — these are hotspots at Lake Meriwether.
  • Dress in layers — mornings can be chilly before the sun warms up.
  • A steady, quiet approach works best in calm morning water.
