8th ANNUAL ACA GLAR back in Kolob!
The American Canyoneering Association’s 2025
Guide - Leader - Aspirant Rendezvous (GLAR), will be held September 12th-14th 2025 in beautiful Kolob, Utah. Come join us to expand your personal and team canyoneering skills while enjoying good food, interesting guest speakers and renewed camaraderie in an alpine setting.
WHO'S INVITED:
- This GLAR event is open to all ACA Certified Aspirants, Assistant Canyon Leaders, Canyon Leaders and Pro Guides.
- We will be offering an Aspirant Assessment on Friday of this event. (Separate event registration and payment TBD is required, 8 spots will be available)
- If you need additional training to qualify, or prep for assessment, please see the ACA Meetup schedule for available workshops in your area.
- All participants must arrive self-sufficient and prepared for technical skill training - NO gear/equipment/PPE will be provided.
ACA-GLAR VISION:
- The 2025 GLAR will endeavor to build on past successes by offering the focused and meaningful training that broadens our communities personal and collective canyoning knowledge. We maintain our primary goals of elevating each Members current canyoning skill levels while expanding opportunities for new experiences. The honor of it all compels us to train hard and work very well together, in a safe and efficient spirit.
LOCATION & FACILITIES:
- The Kolob Community Center is located high above the Summer heat and bustling tourist crowds of Zion National Park. There are nearby training and canyon opportunities and the facilities include a large commercial kitchen, bathrooms, (no showers), outdoor dining/gathering area. There is ample level camping and it is easily accessible to regular vehicles. (no RV hookups, no generators allowed)
DETAILS:
- Early Check-in Opens: 12:00PM on Thursday September 11th at the Community Center. ACA Hosts will help Members get checked-in and orient them to the camping location, kitchen area, bathrooms and other facilities.
- Check-out of the Community Center is by 3:00PM on Sunday, September 14th.
EVENT BEGINS:
- 8:30AM, Friday September 12, 2025.
TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES:
- Technical Rescue Sequence : Personal and Partner Rescue
- Mechanical Advantage (MA): Simple, Compound and Complex
- Technical Access; Traverse lines, Guidelines and Rebelays
- Canyon Leadership – “Essential Tool kit” (All Levels)
- Transient Anchors: Fiddle Sticks and Sandtraps
- Advanced Rigging: Converting to Dynamic.
EVENING WORKSHOPS:
- Class C Techniques: SWC Theory
- Mechanical Advantage: Theory
- Immobilize/transport Lower Leg Injury - Race, prizes!!.
- Personal Locator Beacons (PLB’s) - Garmin, De Lorem, Spot.
EVENT FEE PER PERSON: $55
- Rate includes: Camping, Pro's pancake breakfast, Sales Tax and PayPal Processing Fees. Does not include Meetup Processing Fee.
- Payment is Non-Refundable and Non-Transferable. NO Exceptions.
- If this event must be cancelled, payment will be refunded.

- Bring your favorite dish for Saturday night!
