What we’re about
Welcome to Academics and Scholars Meetup. I am a former professor who misses the stimulation of an academic environment. This is a new discussion group limited to former college or university professors like myself or current professors who who may have the time. We plan to meet for lunch or coffee in New York City perhaps once a month to engage in conversation, expand our knowledge, and make new friends. There are many meetup discussion groups but as membership is limited to academics and scholars we believe that by listening to people knowledgeable in their own field and having discussions with them about their expertise that we can expand our own horizons and have a richer and fuller life.
We have until September 5 to see if there is enough support to sustain this group. Therefore, I would appreciate it if interested if you would email me at philipellisfoster@earthlink.net with the following information:
1. academic background;
2. preferred day of the week and time for first meeting; preferred location of first meeting;
3. willingness to share the monthly fee which Meetup charges to continue the group (about $50 per month).
