Accent 4 Professionals: American English Pronunciation Lab

This is a one-time workshop in person in South Gilbert.

It is the first step in working with me.

In this 90-minute workshop limited to 12 students, you will:

1. Take a diagnostic assessment to find out 3 target sounds for pronunciation improvement.
2. Learn how the mouth and its muscles move to make sounds such as “th” and “r”.
3. Receive a tracking sheet to record progress on your target sounds.
4. Read out loud and receive feedback on your pronunciation.

After this workshop, if you choose to continue, the following week is the 2nd workshop that goes into more detail.

This is the 2nd step to working with me. This class is in person.
Maximum 12 students.

Here’s what you’ll practice:

• Voiced consonant and vowel sounds
• The vowel as the center of a syllable
• Using a rubber band to practice word stress

We will practice in pairs and as a class.

In the second half of class, you will focus a little on your target sounds from the diagnostic.

You will:

• Choose several words from a list containing your target sounds.
• Write sentences containing those words.
• Use a target sound sheet to write down the sentences to practice.
• Learn how to score your pronunciation on your sheet.

Once you are done with this workshop, you can take the intensive 2-week course with a discount, starting April 6th.

This is the 3rd step to working with me, April 6-17th in person in Gilbert, AZ.

This is a 2-week intensive workshop where we go deeper and work on your specific target goals so you actually build a new speaking habit.

We will focus on muscle memory, correcting stubborn habits of previous pronunciation.

You’ll learn:

• Voiced and voiceless consonant patterns
• Natural pacing of speech with pauses
• how to relax while speaking, slowing down your speech
• Sound-by-sound pronunciation of words

It is a small group class, limited to 12 students. You will receive dedicated feedback on your progress daily.

Classes are taught Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, April 6th -17th from 9am to 11am.

What you’ll work on:

• Your specific target sounds identified in readings and sentences. You will receive and use the Accent 4 Professionals Workbook and audio files to practice.
