Shame often shows up not as self-reproach, but as the sense that others have defined you as “bad” because of your estranged relationship. You might feel guilt for things you could have done differently—but you also notice how family, friends, or acquaintances treat you, as if their judgment confirms a story about your worth. In this session, we’ll unpack guilt versus shame, explore where external judgment comes from, and practice ways self-compassion and perspective can quiet the social pressure and inner tension.
