Are Accessibility Overlays Overbaked?

Are Accessibility Overlays Overbaked?

Details

Have you heard about Accessibility Overlays and wonder if they are a good solution for your website? Join us this month for an informational discussion on Overlays and why they might not measure up to expectations.

We've assembled a group of accessibility professionals and users who live with disabilities to discuss overlays, their experiences interacting with overlays on a website, and the legal gray area that overlays leave your website in.

Certain to be a great start to the 2021 ATC MeetUp, packed full of useful information for everyone from the experienced UX designer to the new comer!

Presenters include:

Charles Hall:
Senior Accessibility Designer, CVSHealth
Invited Expert, W3C Accessibility Guidelines Working Group & Silver Task Force
Chair, W3C Inclusive Design for the Immersive Web Community Group
Member, Ferndale Accessibility & Inclusion Advisory Commission
https://www.linkedin.com/in/hallcharles/

"I have been designing since before the web, with a decade in each visual design, front end web development, and user experience. I help people with accessibility issues, and contribute to as many global conversations on the topic as possible through multiple channels and communities of practice."

We're excited to welcome back Charles to join us again and share his thoughts on Accessibility Overlays.

Sue Ann Rodriquez
Director of Accessibility Services at WeCo
https://www.linkedin.com/in/sue-ann-rodriquez-7b236921/

"As the Director of Accessibility Services at WeCo, I lead a team of digital Accessibility Specialists who live with disabilities, in the development of test cases to evaluate accessibility based upon web accessibility standards and guidelines--including Section 508 and WCAG 2.0. Compile test results and provide recommendations on various accessibility challenges in reports, meetings and training."

Accessibility Specialists from WeCo's Accessibility Team will also be available to answer questions and provide a perspective on using accessibility overlays first hand.
