Terrill Thompson, Very Able Player for Accessible Video
Details
Video is everywhere on the web, but where is the accessibility of standard website video players? Does your player permit keyboard control? . . . viewport enlarging? . . . screenreader use?
Answering these queries and more will be Terrill Thompson, and he should know. Terrill is the creator and lead developer of Able Player, an open source HTML media player devised with accessibility in mind.
By day, Terrill is manager of the IT Accessibility Team at the University of Washington, where he builds community, develops resources, delivers lectures and workshops, conducts accessibility evaluations, provides consultation and support to a wide variety of constituents, and conducts research.
But at night, Terrill focuses on solutions to inaccessible video, bringing lightness and fairness to web video players everywhere. CLACK! ZOOM!
Terrill has nearly thirty years of experience in the IT accessibility field, and has presented internationally at numerous conferences and has consulted widely with local and state government, private industry, and K-12 + postsecondary education entities on IT accessibility issues.
This will be a power packed educational event. We encourage attendees to take a preliminary look at the list of Able Player features that will be covered so you have your questions ready. (opens in new window) https://bit.ly/Able-Player-TerrillThompson
