Lots of tech companies have different expectations for Entry/Junior roles compared to Senior/Staff roles. Without outside comparison and context its hard to know which of those expectations are valuable to the employee while inside a given company vs those which are valuable generically to any company.

This session will be a guided discussion led by Gareth Lloyd. Useful to a wide range of tech roles/levels. We can cover many topics, including:
- Is it important that hiring has requirement of "X years in painting in green", or is "proficient at decorating" enough?
- What is common knowledge for a given ecosystem/domain?
- Should everyone have read THAT book or watched THAT talk?
- When to learn what, and when?
- Who should teach the new generation, and when?
- Is it OK to let old ways be forgotten?
- Technical vs management path?
- Specialising vs generalising your skill set?
- When to focus on introducing innovation vs evolving existing legacy?
