About the speaker: Gareth Lloyd
Gareth Lloyd is a high-performance C++ engineer at Memgraph, where he works on optimizing graph database internals, from lock-free garbage collection to memory allocators, and query execution engines. He's spent years deep in the mechanics of execution engines across multiple platforms (x86_64, armv8, WASM), tackling everything from cache strategies and parallel algorithms to distributed replication correctness.

Gareth serves as the ACCU Local Groups Officer, helping local groups across York, Cambridge, Bristol, London, and Oxford. In 2018 he became founding coordinator of ACCU York and has been building spaces for developers to share knowledge and skills ever since.

When he's not chasing nanoseconds or wrangling concurrent data structures, Gareth can be found rock climbing or at the gym. He's passionate about both high-performance systems and high-quality communities, believing that the craft of software engineering flourishes when people connect beyond their keyboards.
