🌳 The Marangu route of Kilimanjaro is the most direct route to the summit. It is the best known route and the one chosen by 80% of the mountaineers. It is known as the “coca-cola route” because in the past you could buy soft drinks and chocolate bars at some stalls along the route. It is the only Kilimanjaro route with shelters, equipped with beds, running water and solar light, but no electricity. These lodges have all the necessary equipment but you must carry a sleeping bag.

Kilimanjaro is a mountain located in northeastern Tanzania, formed by three dormant volcanoes: the Shira, in the west, 3,962m high, the Mawenzi, in the east, 5,149m and Kibo, between the two, the most recent from the geological point of view and whose peak, Uhuru, rises to over 5,895m. It is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world (at about 4,900m above sea level from its base on the plateau) and the fourth ultra-prominent peak on Earth.
